I was fortunate to have worked with your dad when he was managing editor with CFO Magazine, part of the large media company called Industry Dive. He asked me to write some technical articles about tax policy and exit planning. He mentioned my 20+ years of working in the financial services industry when making the request. During the handful of conversations we had, your dad expressed a keen interest in serving his Chief Financial Officer audience. Any time your dad introduced me to a finance executive to interview, the response was always positive. People would say things like the following: “Andy’s a great guy” or “Please give my best to Andy” or “I enjoy talking to Andy.” Your dad was clearly held in high esteem by so many people, me included. Later, when your dad moved to Investment News as managing editor, I had a chance to talk to him again, this time about setting up a newsletter on Substack. Your dad was helping his friend at the same time as I was setting up a newsletter of my own. As always, your dad made encouraging comments and asked how I was doing. As busy as he was, you could count on receiving periodic notes on LinkedIn or a quick “hello” email. He was always courteous and kind. Andy Burt, your dad, was such a nice man to be around, the type of person who makes the world a better place.
