Taylor McKnight Memories

I met Andy when he joined Industry Dive over 10 years ago.

If you asked me to describe him, I would say…

Andy is a man who loves his kids.

Whenever I would talk with Andy, he would always share updates about his kids and their interests and hobbies.

I remember years ago when his daughter, Kathryn-Anne, wanted to learn photography. Andy came to me with questions about camera gear and how to get started.

I was so happy to hear from Andy this past November that Kathryn-Anne is still enjoying photography.

Andy is curious and a lifelong learner.

I had many conversations with Andy over the years. We made a point to schedule time to catch up every few months while we worked together at Industry Dive.

Our talks were all over the map – from media industry business models and our experiences as managers to startups and economics to university and family stories. More than once, I had to ask Andy to let *me* ask some questions. He always had so many!

Andy is fantastic at making others feel seen and supported.

After Andy left Industry Dive, we put calls on the calendar every few months to stay in touch.

When I pull up emails from Andy over the last year, I see messages like these…

“Let me know if I can be a sounding board in any way as you plot your own course.” – Dec 2024

“Taylor, just ran across your LI post and blog post [about leaving Industry Dive after 13 years]. I have to admit, I got a little misty-eyed. What a journey, and I caught the tail end of the Chinatown experience. Also, I was secretly waiting for you to update your site again, I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts there, especially the diving stuff.” – Jan 2025

“Taylor, I saw your [LinkedIn] post a few days ago about what you’re planning next. Very enticing to see what you create! Let me know if there’s any way I can help.” – Feb 2025

“Hey Taylor, one of my sister publications just did an article about a new term “time poverty.” I feel like this issue, while certainly not a new one, is the kind of thing you’ve been thinking and writing about. I.e. we’re in 2025; why haven’t we figured out how to reduce daily demands and stress in a meaningful way? I remember you wrote about that in terms of the job interview process.” – June 2025

I know Andy shared similar words of encouragement with so many other people.

…What a fantastic man.
